These consists of the general guidelines, general and specific requirements per schools.


The Guidelines for Admission into BUIB are as follows:

Admission into BUIB is open to all those seeking knowledge irrespective of nationality, religion, color, sex, race and language.

Admission guidelines, policies and regulations are established by the Academic Board (Senate) of the University.

Applicants can obtain admission online, onsite or download forms from the Website and post to the University Office of Admissions and Enrollment Management.

Application Forms are made available at BUIB Office of Admission and Enrollment Management.

The Office of admission and Enrollment Management uses an individualized, holistic review process to consider each completed application taking into account such factors as demonstrated academic performance, career or vocational goals, relevant experience, language competence and potential success in the program. However, applications from students who are not eligible for direct admission because they failed to fulfill all the conditions prescribed by the Academic Board of the University are reviewed to determine admissibility and to make decisions by the Office of the Provost.

Admission decisions are made on the basis of the information submitted as part of the student’s application. Applicants who believe that supplemental items will help convey information about their qualifications are encouraged to submit such items with their applications.

Admission into the most of the programs in the school of health is by competitive entrance exam written on the BUIB campus on an announced date. This exam includes both written and orals. The exams are marked and results of successful candidates are published on notice board.

Entry into the State Registered Nursing program is by competitive exams.

BUIB offers direct entry into the School of Management Sciences, School of Education, BSc. in Nursing, other health fields and post graduate programs.



Vocational Competence

Students should have a vocation or love for what they intend to study. Upon submission of their Application Forms, applicants are expected to include a one page essay which justifies their passion for the chosen field of study and other useful information such as:

Pre-existing experience in the Programme.

Prior learning including formal, informal, and non-formal in the field of choice.

Candidates are also expected to indicate Two (2) references that can be contacted to provide additional information on the candidate.

Academic Competence:

Candidates must have passed at least Four (4) subjects at the GCE Ordinary Level or Probatoire and in addition at least Two (2) subjects at the GCE Advanced Level in one seating excluding Religion.

Passed in Baccalaureate (General or Technical).

Any other Certificate considered by MINESUP Decision spelling out the admission requirements into University.

Language Competence:

Candidates will be required to show proof that they can undertake their studies in English.

For Foreign students who have no knowledge of English, they will be expected to register for and undergo the Intensive Vocational Competence Program prescribe by BUIB

BSc in Management Science fields:  A pass in any Two (2) G.C.E Advanced Level subjects in one sitting (excluding Religious Studies)

Admission into year two is treated as transfer case. Thus a complete year one transcript should be presented at the point of admission.

Admission in to year three BSc. A pass in HND in the required specialty.


The following procedures shall be followed to obtain BUIB application Forms for admission into BUIB.

At BUIB Campus A, Bokoko-Buea

Attend a counseling session on campus with our Academic Counselors.

Obtain an Application Form from the BUIB Admission Secretariat.

Complete the Application Form accordingly.

Review the Application Form and the Required Supporting Documents with any BUIB Admission Counselors.

Submit the Application Form with all Supporting Documents as stipulated above to the Admission Secretariat.

Off Campus:

Download the Application Form from the BUIB website (www.biakahc.org/application).

Fill out the Application Form accordingly.

You can pay the application fee through any of the BUIB’s Bank accounts.

Make a copy of the receipt and file the original with your application file.

Alternatively, come to BUIB Campus, Bokoko-Buea with the Application Form alongside the Application fee.

There shall be separate fee for late application which shall be determined by the University from time to time.

Complete the Online Application Form accordingly.

Review the completed online application Form and upload the Required Documents.

Submit the Application Form online.

The Biaka University Institute of Buea (BUIB) welcomes applications from students who have attended or are currently attending other accredited Universities or Institutions of Higher Education and who wish to transfer to BUIB. Before applying, they must be familiar with the BUIB transfer requirements.

Transfer Procedures:

All applicants for transfer shall follow the same procedures for Freshmen Admission as stated on the admission brochures and on the BUIB’s website.

All applications for transfer cases should be addressed to the Office of Admission, BUIB, Campus, Bokoko-Buea.

Documents Required for Transfer:

A hand –written application explaining the circumstances and factors which led him/her to ask for a transfer (For Transfer Cases Only).

A signed and dated BUIB Transfer Form obtained from either BUIB Campus or website.

A detailed Academic Transcript from his/her current University showing the subjects that the student has taken and marks/grades obtained.

Copies of Academic Certificates should be attached (O level, A level, Baccalaureate, Probatoire etc.)



Candidates are allowed to change their Schools/Programme provided they fulfill the following conditions:

Application for change of School/Program shall be considered at the end of the First/Freshman Year and shall only take effect from the beginning of the next Academic Year after approval by the Provost. In the case of HND, application shall be considered at the end of First Semester and shall only take effect from the beginning of the Second Semester after approval by the Provost.

Applicant shall address an application letter to the Vice Provost Academics applying for the change of School/ Program and should be endorsed by any of the parents/guardians which should include his/her phone number and a photocopy of ID Card.

A student who is authorized to transfer from one School/ Program to another shall first fulfill the entry requirements for the School/program or in which he/she prefers to be admitted.

If he/she had earned some credit(s) in the former School/College/Program, they would be transferred if necessary to the new School/College/Program.

Transfer from School of Health sciences of Management science no financial implications.

Transfer from School of Management science to School of Health sciences is not acceptable.

Pay the relevant financial charges to the University’s Principal Cashier.

A student can add or drop courses on their list of registered courses, within two weeks from that start of lectures.


Registration is first done at the level of the Office of Admission and Enrollment Management which examines the students’ academic records. Then the admitted students have to comply with the requirement of the Finance Office and are equally registered at the level of the Office of Exams and Records. Thereafter, the admitted student goes to their Schools for Course Registration.


Any student who comes to register after Admission has been closed shall first pay the sum of 5000F CFA into the University’s Bank Account before the application for late registration can be considered.


Excess Fee Payment Refund

In case of excess fee paid by Freshmen, the students will not be entitled to any refund, thus the excess fee will be credited to the student’s account for the next academic year.

Withdrawal from BUIB

Refund of fee paid shall be done only within a month from official start of Lectures at BUIB.

The student shall receive 60% of fee paid as refund for that academic year.

After a month from the official start of Lectures at BUIB, there shall be no refund of fee paid upon withdrawal from BUIB.

Students who are admitted after a month from official start of Lectures shall not be due refund of fee paid upon withdrawal.

Biaka University Institute Buea provides a conducive and enabling environment for learning, with the best professionals you can find in Cameroon on her teaching staff.  All the St. Francis schools have been upgraded to Biaka University Institute of Buea (BUIB), mentored by the University of Buea. This upgrade gave BUIB the onus to run three schools- Health Sciences, Education and Management Sciences. Courses offered run from HND to Bachelors in the various schools.
