Fight against COVID-19 on campus

BUIB Adopts Strategies to Contain the Spread of COVID-19

In the midst of the Coronavirus Pandemic which exposes workers, students and stakeholders of the Biaka University Institute of Buea to health risks, top management has put in place tight measures to prevent the spread of this Virus within the institution. Actions like the provision of soap and constant running water at all entry points for the washing of hands and hand sanitizers for disinfecting, cannot be overemphasized.

Though classroom lectures have been temporarily suspended as decreed by the Prime Minister Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute, there is still live at BUIB as the teaching and administrative staffs continue work while maintaining social distancing, wearing protective masks and abiding to all other recommendations by the health experts.

As teaching continues online at Biaka University Institute of Buea, protecting the health of workers is a priority to the management body. While having at their disposal all what it takes to stay safe, workers of the institution and visitors are mandated to make use of the facilities available so as to stay safe.

BUIB Goes ONLINE: second semester kicks off

Lectures for the second semester have started effectively at The Biaka University Institute of Buea (BUIB) this 21st day of April 2020.  While traditional classroom teaching and learning is suspended by the Cameroon Government with campuses free of students as a measure to help contain the spread of the Coronavirus in the country, online study has been adopted as the only way forward for BUIB.

Charged with the responsibility to train students effectively using the best possible ways, the management of this institution has put in place all necessary facilities for the effective teaching of her students and the overall success of the 2019/2020 academic year.

BUIB sees this shift in the status quo as an opportunity to upgrade its lecturers and students in an era where digitalization appears to be the order of the day. Though not new to Biaka University Institute of Buea, both teachers and lecturers will have to adapt to the online study as the priority method to achieve their goals amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

On their part, students are responsible for their learning and are expected at this time to make valuable use of the Presidential laptops in their possession as well as their android phones to access the online system put in place for learning.

It is worth noting that just like the traditional classroom teaching and learning, the online study flows similarly while respecting the time table but for the fact that the classroom is virtual. To this effect students as well as lecturers do access the online system by logging into the system from wherever they find themselves.

While hoping that things get back to normal in the days ahead, Biaka University Institute of Buea is however confident to conclude the academic year successfully despite the current crisis affecting classroom lectures.
