Biaka @ 25; The Grand Finale – A Day of Milestones and Honors

Friday, November 24th, marked the culminating day of Biaka University Institute of Buea’s 25th-anniversary celebration, and it proved to be a day of monumental achievements, reflections, and honors. The final day was filled with a series of impactful events that underscored the institution’s commitment to education, community, and the legacy of its founder, Dr. Biaka.

The highlight of the day was the launch of the Dr. Biaka Memorial Foundation (DBMF), a fitting tribute to the visionary founder whose dedication and foresight laid the foundation for the university’s success. The foundation aims to continue Dr. Biaka’s legacy by supporting educational initiatives, community development projects, and fostering a culture of philanthropy within the Biaka community.

 

The ceremony was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, with the Governor of the South West Region representing the Prime Minister and presiding over the event. Other notable dignitaries included the Divisional Officer of Buea, the Mayor of Buea, and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Buea. The event also saw the participation of revered religious and traditional authorities, such as the Bishop of Buea Diocese, the Imam of Buea Central Mosque, and the Paramount Ruler of Buea.

 

Dr. Bertha Ndoh, a respected figure in Administration and academia, delivered a compelling address to the graduating students, imparting wisdom and encouragement as they embark on the next chapter of their lives. The graduation ceremony itself was a momentous occasion, with over 1260 students crossing the stage to receive their well-earned degrees. The air was filled with a sense of accomplishment, pride, and anticipation for the promising futures that awaited the graduates.

The day’s events encapsulated the spirit of Biaka University Institute—a harmonious blend of academic excellence, community engagement, and a commitment to the ideals set forth by its founder. As the 25th-anniversary celebration came to a close, it left an indelible mark on the institution’s history, reinforcing its dedication to shaping future generations of leaders and contributing positively to the broader community. The legacy of Dr. Biaka lives on through the enduring impact of the university and the newly established Dr. Biaka Memorial Foundation.
